Bruny Island has built a reputation for producers, and two of the best known sit close together at Great Bay on North Bruny, a short drive from the ferry: the Bruny Island Cheese Co. and the Get Shucked oyster bar.

Bruny Island Cheese Co.

Known for washed-rind and raw-milk style cheeses, plus bread baked on site and a tasting room. You can taste, buy a cheese platter and eat in the garden. Check current opening hours before visiting.

Oysters at Great Bay

The oyster bar sells freshly shucked Pacific oysters grown in the bay, plus other seafood. Eat them by the water or buy a dozen to take away — bring a cooler bag if you are heading further south.

Tips
